3 to 5 FPS, but it works – gaming over WIFI. Should do special program to do that – can’t be arsed to install games on laptop, but would love to play here. There should be way to reach more FPS – 5FPS rate used only 1MB/sec of traffic

I would be very interested in seeing such a thing. However, considering that compression protocol’s are already pretty optimized, and probably cannot compress rapidly changing regions of a screen (similar to codec compression of movies), you would be a god among programmers if you found a way :P.
I mean that:
1) It would refresh at higher rate by design. So it can use all bandwidth I give, more than 1mb/sec
2) It would use larger compression on vital areas, and less on less vital, specified by user – you can make your HUD and CHAT to be clearly visible, but the rest will be jpeg-raped
Check out UltraVNC, it allows you to set your formats and encoding that you want to use, some are very high bandwidth suckers. Some options are ZRLE, Zlib (+xor) ZlibHex, RRE, CoRRE, etc. It has some settings for tweaking the format, such as jpeg quality.
I’ll check it out
